Sustainability Champions
We are grateful for the amazing talent that resides within LSA around sustainability and carbon neutrality. LSA Sustainability Champions are a hands-on group, serving as the point person in their unit or department for any sustainability-related questions. This is a voluntary group for staff, faculty, and graduate students.
- Identify and gather community ideas on ways in which your unit can improve
- Support your area’s sustainability efforts and interest, with support from LSA Sustainability
- Meet with LSA Sustainability and other Sustainability Champions monthly
- Communicate opportunities and encourage participation in U-M sustainability events
- Contribute to creating a positive work environment and fostering connection
- Serve as a resource for your unit by participating in Champion training events, Planet Blue Ambassador training, and other ongoing learning opportunities
- Help set a sustainability vision for LSA through involvement in long-term planning
Any graduate student or faculty/staff member working onsite or hybrid is eligible. Consider someone who:
- Is interested in sustainability, carbon neutrality, and environmental justice
- Is able to commit to meeting once a month for an hour for one year
- Champions who are active participants in the program can apply for internally available grants to support your unit’s efforts, you can learn more about the Incentives and Innovations Fund here
- Champions contribute to a growing culture of sustainability in LSA
- Your unit will have access to programs, activities, and materials that improve their awareness of how they can incorporate sustainable and low-carbon practices at home and work
